Teammates getting a chance to share the gridiron once more and rivals being on the same sideline for the first time are always two of the highlights of senior all-star football games.
This June at Bentley University the Class of 2025 will get to experience those feelings in the 47th annual Shriners High School Football Classic.
Sponsored by the Aleppo Shriners and the Mass. High School Football Coaches Association, the game raises money for the Shriners Children’s transportation fund, which families get to and from their treatments at Shriners Hospitals.
The game features some of the best senior football players from all over Massachusetts in a North vs. South format. There’s no shortage of North Shore representation on the North squad; among those selected to play are:
Salem High’s all-time leader in several statistical categories and last fall’s Northeastern Conference MVP, Rocco Ryan; Bishop Fenwick tackling machine Lincoln Dugan and offensive line staple Tyler Santos; Swampscott’s Liam Keaney, who set a single season record for tackles for the Big Blue last fall; Beverly’s defensive demon Jack Consedine; Masconomet force Cash Kornusky; Peabody’s bruising two-way lineman Jimmy Festa; and from St. John’s Prep, Naval Academy bound wideout Merrick Barlow and linebacker Jackson Tucker.
The game will be held on Friday, June 13 with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. Revere’s Lou Cicatelli is head coach of the North side and will be assisted by locals Tim Freiermuth and Dan Connors from Essex Tech.
