Residents asked to avoid contact with Georges Creek waters

WESTERNPORT — Residents are asked to avoid direct contact with Georges Creek as raw sewage continues to flow into the waterway at several points between Shaft and Westernport, according to the Allegany County Health Department.
The North Branch Potomac River downstream from the mouth of Georges Creek in Westernport is also affected, officials said.
Residents are asked to not drink, fish or come into direct contact with those waters until further notice.
