Nine primary elections, mostly Republican primaries, are slated in eastern Niagara County. Primary Election Day is June 24.
According to the ballot order posted by the Niagara County Board of Elections:
— A GOP primary election will be held in the 15th county legislative district, pitting incumbent legislator Mike Hill of Middleport and Lawrence L. Bentley Sr. of Lockport.
— A GOP primary election will be held in the City of Lockport, Third Ward alderman contest, pitting Joe DiPasquale of Bright Street and Rowland O’Malley II of Park Avenue.
— In the Hartland Town Justice race, candidates James L. Minner, the incumbent justice, and Keith A. Bond, are vying for the Democratic and GOP ballot lines in the November general election.
— A GOP primary election will be held amongst candidates for two seats on the Hartland town council: Thomas W. Sullivan, Mitchell A. Haner and incumbent council members David Huntington and Joseph A. Reed.
— A GOP primary election will be held amongst candidates for two seats on the Pendleton town council: Dylan Rumbold, David J. Kantor and Timothy A. Lukasik.
— A GOP primary election will be held amongst candidates for Pendleton superintendent of highways: David A. Leible and incumbent superintendent David I. Fischer. In addition, Fischer must fend off an Opportunity To Ballot challenge for the Conservative line in the general election; and there’s an OTB for the Working Families party line.
VOTER REGISTRATION
Saturday is the last day to register to vote in the 2025 Primary Election.
The Niagara County Board of Elections, 111 Main St., Suite 100, will be open extended hours several days this week to accommodate registration: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. today and Thursday; and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Normal office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Voter registration forms are available on the Board of Elections website (elections.niagara.ny.us), at all post pffices, most banks, public libraries, town and city halls and at the Board of Elections office. Anyone who has changed their address since they last voted must re-register to be eligible to vote.
ABSENTEE AND EARLY MAIL VOTING
Absentee and early mail voting options are available to voters who will be out of the county on Primary Election Day. The Board of Elections office will be open extended hours on several days to accommodate absentee and early mail balloting: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. June 16 and June 17, and 9 a.m. to noon June 21, which is a Saturday. EARLY VOTING IN PERSON
In-person early voting may be done at the Niagara County Fairgrounds in Lockport or the Niagara Falls Train Station any day between June 14 and June 22. Each site is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day except June 16 and June 17, when the polling hours are noon to 8 p.m. Both sites are accessible to voters with physical disabilities.
On Primary Election Day, voters must go to their regular poll site to cast a ballot.
