Through the 2014 season, we didn’t name a girls hockey MVP. The girls All-Stars were simply lumped in with the boys.
Then, Amanda Conway kicked in the door.
The Methuen High superstar’s brilliance on the ice was simply impossible to deny, so we made the decision to give the girls a well-deserved MVP honor. The winner of the first two was Conway, who scored 204 goals in three varsity seasons with the Methuen/Tewksbury girls co-op team — she played with the boys as a freshman — then 116 goals in 111 games at Norwich and went on to a successful professional career.
And since then, girls hockey has continued to grow.
Haverhill High’s Kane family has been huge for the Haverhill-Pentucket-North Andover co-op program.
Both Eliana Kane and her sister Michaela Kane have been MVPs. Their dad, Gary Kane, is the HPNA coach.
In fact, this award has been owned by HNPA stars, including Jess Chicko in 2017, Kat Yelsits in 2022, Julianna Taylor in 2025 and Mia Kmiec this past winter.
Methuen-Tewksbury has had a lot of talent, too. Methuen High’s Kaia Hollingsworth was a two-time MVP and posted a brilliant 104-16-16 record in a six-year varsity career. She went on to a successful college career at Salem State.
Andover’s Rose McLean led Andover to its first ever state semifinal appearance in 2023, taking MVP honors. She was a three-sport Eagle-Tribune All-Star (also v=field hockey and lacrosse).
New Hampshire’s only had girls varsity hockey for a handful of years. But one Granite Stater has claimed our MVP — Pinkerton’s Riley Dunn, after she scored 43 goals as a senior in 2024.
