The Fairfield Glade Fantastic Quilters welcomes Crossville area quilter and quilt appraiser Sara Bradshaw for her lecture and trunk show, Raw Edge Reverse Appliqué.
The presentation and trunk show will take place during the group’s membership meeting Friday, May 15. The meeting begins at 9 a.m. in the fellowship hall at Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church at 231 Westchester Drive.
Guests will pay a $5 fee to hear from this speaker. The gathering will also include the monthly Business Meeting as well as a time of Show and Tell.
During her lecture and trunk show, Bradshaw will explain and show how to add texture and help tell the story of the quilt using her appliqué technique. She will also be teaching a workshop on Saturday, May 16.
“Raw Edge Reverse Appliqué is very popular, and folks seem to really have fun with it,” Bradshaw said. “This can be a challenging concept for traditional quilters because there is no pattern and the technique is very improvisational. But it does stimulate the minds of those quilters who want to add an extra element of texture or design to create an abstract art quilt and who are willing to try something that is ‘out of the box’.”
The Fantastic Quilters Guild is a local group of 100+ quilters who meet on the third Friday of the month at the Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church to further the art of quilting through education, sharing, community outreach, and social camaraderie. They have been meeting since 2002. New members and visitors are always welcome.
