MANKATO — The public will have the opportunity to witness Blue Earth County test its elections equipment this week.
The county will be testing its optical scan precinct counters and assistive voting devices 9 a.m. Thursday in the Elections Office on the first floor of the Historic Courthouse, 204 S 5th St.
Local election officials test all equipment before every election.
For the preliminary internal testing, the county said in a news release that ballots are marked with assistive voting devices, and a set of pre-marked ballots is fed into the ballot tabulators. The machines’ totals are then compared with the pre-determined results.
