LAFAYETTE, Ind. — After a tough three games in two games, the Danville Dans finally got going against the Lafayette Aviators.
In the second game of the second straight doubleheader in as many days, the Dans jumped ot to a 4-0 lead and went on to get a 7-4 win.
In the first inning, the Dans loaded the bases when Jorge Santana II singled IN Michael Farina, Maurice Days Jr. had a sacrifice fly that scored Colin Sander, Owen Anderson would bring in Asa Martinez with an RBI single and Jordan Luna would bring in Santana with an RBI single.
Dalton Hobick would score in the fourth for Danville when Farina singled and advanced on an error int e fourth and Sander would have an sacrifice fly to bring in Farina for a 6-0 lead.
The Aviators would battle back in the fifth with RBI singles by Hunter Snow, Diego Frey and Vincent Alvarez and an sacrifice fly by Gavin Smith to cut the lead to 6-4.
Tanner McMurray would get a run back for the Dans in the seventh with an RBI single to put the game away.
Gavin McClendon had five strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings, while Evan Cooke had two scoreless innings and Logan Long got the final out for the Dans.
Martinez, Santana and Anderson all had two hits for Danville.
In the first game of the day, the Dans took the early lead in the third with an Farina RBI groundout for a 1-0 lead. But the Aviators tied the game on a RBI single by Adrian Davis in the sixth and took the lead in the seventh with an RBI double by Keifer Wilson.
Anthony Pesci had five strikeouts in taking the loss for the Dans, while Chase Cartron had five strikeouts in getting the win for the Aviators.
The Dans will stay on the road on Thursday to play the Thrillville Thrillbillies and will play the Champion City Kings on Friday.
