MANKATO — A St. Peter man will serve prison time for drug sales in Blue Earth County.
Senif Joel Garza, 28, was convicted on a felony second-degree heroin/fentanyl sales charge Monday in Blue Earth County District Court.
Garza was one of two men charged in October after law enforcement reported seeing a suspected drug deal between the two in a fast food parking lot. The other man, Lincoln Alan Benzkofer, 29, of North Mankato, has a sentencing date set for Aug. 19 on a fentanyl possession charge.
Police reported finding 100 tablets of counterfeit oxycodone believed to contain fentanyl in Benzkofer’s possession. A criminal complaint suggested Garza supplied the pills, with law enforcement tracking him down and arresting him after a pursuit.
Garza received a six-year, three-month sentence, minus 267 days credited to him for time already served, according to a sentencing order. He’d serve two-thirds of the sentence in prison followed by one-third on supervised release.
