MANKATO — Macy Birkholz scored the 1,000th point of her career, lead Mankato East to a 65-52 win over Rochester John Marshall in a Big Nine Conference girls basketball game Friday at the East gym.
Birkholz finished with 21 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Ellie Edberg had 20 points, 11 rebounds and three steals, and Madeline Beaty had 10 points and three steals. Kylinn Stangl grabbed nine rebounds.
East hosts Marshall on Saturday.
Rochester Mayo 65, Mankato West 51: Ella Mullenbach scored 18 points in West’s Big Nine loss at the West gym.
Romo Smith added 13 points, and Avery Schmitz scored 10 points.
West plays at South St. Paul on Saturday.
Alden-Conger 61, Mankato Loyola 58: Maddie Huiras had 19 points and 10 rebounds in the Crusaders’ Valley Conference loss at Fitzgerald gym.
Sammy Kann added 16 points and eight rebounds for Loyola (4-2).
Macy Mattson and Cearra Grunzke each scored 20 points for Alden-Conger (2-6).
Waterville-Elysian-Morristown 64, Faribault Bethlehem Academy 35: Kylie LaFrance scored 12 points as the Bucs prevailed in a Gopher Conference game at Waterville.
Claire Bohlen and Tianna Pope each added 11 points.
WEM (4-4, 2-1 in Gopher) plays at St. James Area on Thursday.
Hayfield 68, Maple River 48: Claire McGregor scored 19 points in the Eagles’ loss in a Gopher home game.
Lexi Thomas added nine points, and Krystal Ulrich scored eight points.
Natalie Beaver led Hayfield with 23 points.
Maple River (4-3) plays Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton on Tuesday.
New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva 69, Randolph 43: Faith Nielsen and Camryn VanMaldeghem each scored 21 points in the Panthers’ Gopher win.
VanMaldeghem also had 11 rebounds and five assists.
NRHEG (6-1, 2-0) plays at St. Clair on Thursday.
Triton 70, United South Central 32: Olivia Bungum had 16 points and 11 rebounds in the Gopher loss at Wells.
Taylor Schroeder added 14 points for USC.
Marshall 76, New Ulm 56: Daviney Dreckman led New Ulm with 11 points, five rebounds and four steals in a Big South Conference home loss.
Morgan Hulke and Maddie Backer each added 10 points.
Jackson County Central 57, Waseca 40: Callie Dufault led the Bluejays with 17 points in a Big South game at Waseca.

Blooming Prairie 57, Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton 54: Memphis James scored 28 points, but the Bulldogs lost a Gopher Conference game at Blooming Prairie.
Daulton Bauer added 11 points.
JWP (3-2, 1-1 in Gopher) plays at Maple River on Tuesday.
Maple River 67, Hayfield 25: Arden Pawlitschek scored 18 points in Maple River’s Gopher victory at Hayfield.
Aaron Pawlitschek had 13 points and six assists, and Wyatt Birr added eight points and 12 rebounds. Maple River led 45-15 at halftime.
Maple River hosts Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton Tuesday,
Minnesota Valley Lutheran 82, Springfield 66: Ben Pearson scored 29 points, including six 3-pointers, as the Chargers won a Tomahawk Conference game at Springfield.
Aaron Black added 16 points and eight rebounds, and Kyler Flunker scored 10 for MVL.
Noah Vogel led Springfield with 22 points.
Jackson County Central 87, Waseca 71: Deron Russell scored 17 points for the Bluejays in a Big South loss at Jackson.
Zach Hulscher added 15 points for Waseca.
