MANKATO — Macy Birkholz hit three 3-pointers en route to breaking the Mankato East girls program record in a 48-40 Big Nine Conference home win over Austin Tuesday night.
Birkholz, who now has 186 career triples, finished the game with 17 points and four steals. Ellie Edberg added 11 points for the Cougars, while Kylinn Stangl grabbed nine rebounds.
East (1-0) plays Thursday at St. Peter.
Mankato West 50, Worthington 44: Tucker Downs led the Scarlets with 16 points in the nonconference home win.
Ella Mullenbach scored 11 points for West, and Romo Smith added 10 points.
The Scarlets (1-0) play Thursday at Rochester John Marshall.
Mankato Loyola 54, Madelia 42: Maddie Huiras led the Crusaders with 20 points in a Valley Conference win Tuesday at Fitzgerald gym.
Sammy Kann added 14 points for Loyola.

Maple River 78, St. James 60: Lexi Thomas led the Eagles with 27 points in the Gopher Conference win. Thomas became the sixth player in program history to reach 1,000 career points in the victory.
Claire McGregor added 19 points for Maple River.
Madelyn Malmgren led the Saints with 14 points.

Nicollet 86, Cleveland 72: Leah Bode led the Raiders with 34 points, 13 rebounds and six steals in a Valley Conference home win.
Cheyenne Klockziem had 20 points and 16 rebounds for the Raiders, while Savannah Klockziem added 18 points and seven rebounds.
For the Clippers, Ave Hahn finished with 19 points, while Greta Hahn scored 15.

St. Peter 69, Hutchinson 26: Annika Southworth scored 24 points for the Saints in the home victory.

Avery Voges added eight points for LCWM.
