FITHIAN — The Oakwood/Schlarman softball team continued its strong first week on Thursday with a 13-5 win over Arcola.
Caydence Vermilion had 12 strikeouts on the mound for the Comets and was 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Ashtyn Dailey had three hits with four RBIs, Sophia Hart had two hits and an RBI and Nevaeh Parham had two RBIs.
The Comets were coming off a 7-3 win over Villa Grove to start the season on Monday with Irene Rangel getting 13 strikeouts and had three hits. Hart had two hits and three RBIs, while Avery Trimmell had two hits and two RBIs, and Jelanna Tall and Vermilion had two hits and one RBI.
The Comets will wrap up the week with a game against Paris on Friday.

BISMARCK — The Blue Devils scored seven runs in sixth, but could not complete the comeback against the Eagles in their season opener.
Hope Grissom had two hits and three RBIs for Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin, while Ella Acton had two hits and two RBIs, Callie Carpenter had three hits and an RBI, Elli Tittle had two hits and an RBI and Emma Shelato had an RBI.
The Blue Devils will play Danville on Friday.
