CHARLESTON — The Danville softball had a big lead going into the seventh inning against Charleston, but could not hold on in a 9-8 defeat on Tuesday.
The Vikings had a seven-run first inning with Olivia Scaggs and Ava Foster each getting two-RBI singles, while Ka’Leah Bellik had an RBI single and Payton Beith and Deana Linares each drove in runs on bases loaded walks.
Danville had a 8-4 lead, but Charleston scored five runs in the seventh inning and was topped off with an two-RBI single by Rylee Lewis.
The Vikings are 2-3 and will start action at the Rantoul Tournament on Friday against Pekin.
