TRAVERSE CITY — The Traverse City West boys basketball collected its second consecutive season-opening win over Bay City Central on Tuesday, winning 68-24. Tuesday’s victory marked the Titans’ first W in a home opener since 2021.
“I was real happy with our defensive effort,” West head coach Doug Baumann said. “They did a great job on the boards, and the defensive rotation was good for us. Both of those put together helped us to keep the score down.”
The Titans got offense from all over as Ben Habers led the way with 19 points. Caden Stoops, Owen Hendrix, Lincoln Lockhart, Drew Esper and Quinten Gillespie all finished with six points.
“It was a great team win. Played with good effort and intensity,” Baumann said.
The Titans (1-0) look to start the season 2-0 for the first time since 2021 as they travel to Gaylord on Friday.
