KINGSLEY — Harbor Springs picked up a 45-30 Northern Shores Conference win over Kingsley Friday in prep girls basketball action.
The win catapults Harbor Springs (9-1) to the top of the Northern Shores Conference with a 5-0 undefeated record halfway through the season.
“It was a slow start in the first half, but a hard-fought game from start to finish,” Harbor Springs coach Ethan McCarthy said.
Lillian McShannock led the Rams tonight with 21 points, hitting four 3-pointers, followed by Stefi Reskevics with 10 points.
Makayla Beach dominated again on the boards, leading to many second-chance opportunities and allowing the Rams to run in transition throughout most of the night.
Harbor led 12-4 early on, as McShannock drilled a pair of 3-pointers and scored eight of the Rams’ first dozen points.
Kingsley finished the first half on an 8-0 run — including three buckets by AdeLynn Town — to pull within 20-21 by the intermission.
“Tonight we must give the credit to our bench for being our hype machine,” McCarthy said. “(Our motto) ‘Earn it together’ is not just done on the court. This is what these girls take to heart and play hard for, cheer for, encourage, and motivate one another, no matter what happens.”
Annie Strang led Kingsley with nine points, Delaney Case had eight and Town seven. Strang scored all seven Stags third-quarter points, and a Laney Osborn 3-pointer was the only Kingsley fourth-quarter scoring.
Kingsley senior forward Emilee Robinson, who averaged 19 points a game last season, has been out since the first game with a broken foot, but recently had her walking boot removed and could return in a few weeks.
The teams play again Feb. 17 in Harbor Springs.
