MANCELONA — Call it a streak because that is three wins in a row for the Charlevoix Rayders.
Charlevoix went on the road to Mancelona and roughed up the host Ironmen by a 44-14 final Friday, using an effective ground game to wear down their opponent.
All six of the Rayders’ touchdowns were of the rushing variety as Brady Warchol and Ian Moran ran in two apiece and both Jack Terryberry and Collin Jess rumbled in for one each.
Warchol got the scoring started with a 6-yard run and then added a 5-yard TD. Moran scrambled in from 12 yards out and then punched it in from the 1-yard line for his second score. Terryberry’s TD was from a yard out as well, and Jess found paydirt with a 6-yard TD.
The Rayders racked up 259 rushing yards on 43 carries. Warchol led all rushers with 89 yards on a dozen attempts. Moran completed five of his seven passes for 60 yards to go along with 80 on the ground.
Moran was a beast on defense as well, tallying nine tackles and three for a loss. Ryan Pearl had four tackles as well as a pass deflection and an interception. Hunter Lemerand finished with 4.5 tackles and one for a loss along with an interception. Sawyer Blaszczyk had five tackles and the Rayders’ lone sack.
Jackson Bennett had a big night for the Ironmen, scoring both of Mancelona’s touchdowns in the loss.
The Rayders (5-2) look to stay in the win column when they host Tawas on Friday. The Ironmen (3-4) hope to rebound from the loss as they travel to Johannesburg-Lewiston for their Week Eight matchup Friday.
