DANVILLE — Sophomore Samantha Brown set a new Danville school record in the pole vault on Tuesday night, clearing 3.56 meters or 11 feet, 8 inches.
It’s the second time this season that Brown has broken the school’s record in the pole vault. On April 18 in Bloomington, Brown cleared 3.25 meters of 10 feet, 8 inches to break the previous record held by Hallee Thomas of 10 feet, 6 inches.
Brown also won the triple jump event as Danville with 200 points won the four-team meet with Champaign Central (143), Urbana (90) and Schlarman Academy (42).
Freshman Jamia Esther also had a big day for the Vikings winning the 100- and 200-meter races, setting a new personal best in the 200 of 25.89 seconds.
Other individual winners for Danville on Tuesday included Stephanie Sykes (400), Makhiya Gibson (100 hurdles), Jada Bell (discus) and Gabriela Huerta (high jump).
