Vinemont dispatched Carbon Hill with ease on Friday night, collecting a 45-7 home victory in a Class 3A, Region 5 clash to improve to 4-1 (2-1) on the season.
The Eagles, who are now 10-1 all-time against the Bulldogs, built a 24-0 halftime lead thanks to a pair of touchdown scampers (Chad Reynolds and Rush Sandlin) and a touchdown pass from Josh Rhodes to Reese Foell.
Chase Blair and Gabriel Herrera, meanwhile, each had touchdown runs in the second half. Foell recorded his second touchdown catch — this one from Sandlin — late in the third quarter.
“It was a great homecoming win,” Vinemont coach Stephen Robinson said. “We lost a little intensity in the second quarter, but they came out in the second half and played better and finished strong. This team has a lot of senior leadership, plays hard and tries to do things right.
“It’s another step forward for us.”
Vinemont travels to West End next week.
