Cullman wrapped up Class 6A, Region 7 play Friday night with a 42-14 road win over Decatur.
Preston Gay and Cooper Loftin each had first-half touchdown runs for the Bearcats, who improved to 5-4 (3-3) following the victory. The former also completed scoring strikes to Cooper Ogstad and Colton Borden, respectively, as the Black and Gold led 28-0 at halftime.
Loftin added two more rushing scores in the second half before the Red Raiders eventually got on the board with a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns.
“I thought we played some really good football tonight on both sides of the ball,” Cullman coach Danny Stiff said. “We executed the game plan and didn’t make a ton of mistakes. Overall, I thought it was a clean game. We did a good job going out there and playing good football.”
The Bearcats host Buckhorn next week and will look to extend their winning streak to three.
“I told our guys after the Muscle Shoals game that I wanted them to play well in the second half — that second five-game schedule,” Stiff said. “We played well against Brewer and played Hartselle tight. And then we played well again tonight. I think we’re playing our best ball and hopefully we can keep that going against Buckhorn next week.”
