HOOPESTON — A strong first quarter was all that the Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin football team needed on Friday.
The Blue Devils had a 36-0 lead after the first quarter and would go on to beat Hoopeston Area/Armstrong-Potomac 49-14 in Vermilion Valley Conference action.
Evan Parish started everything for BHRA with a one-yard touchdown run and a 53-yard touchdown run and they kept going with a 40-yard fumble return by Chaz Dubois for a touchdown, an 8-yard run by Caden Keleminic and a 9-yard pass from Eli MConkey to Keleminic.
In the second quarter, the Cornjerkers got on the board when Ayden Larkin scored on a 9-yard run, but the Blue Devils rebounded with a 60-yard run by Ethan Dubois for a 43-6 halftime lead.
In the third quarter, McConkey scored on a one-yard run for BHRA and RaSiah Jones caught a 25-yard pass from Larkin in the fourth for HAAP.
Parish ended up with 134 yards rushing, while Ethan Dubois had 68 yards and Keleminic had 43 yards. Chaz Dubois had two catches for 79 yards and Keleminic had his catch for nine yards.
The Blue Devils are 3-0 overall and in the VVC and will travel to Iroquois West next week. The Cornjerkers are 1-2 overall and in the VVC and will host Momence next week.
