CAYUGA, Ind. — The Covington boys basketball team saw an early challenge from Faith Christian in Friday’s IHSAA Class 1A sectional semifinal.
The Trojans were tied 17-17 after the first quarter, but would outscored Faith Christian 18-7 in the second quarter and would go on to get a 71-51 win at North Vermillion High School.
Curt Slider had 17 points to lead Covington, while Austin Stein had 12 points, 11 assists and five steals, Max Waddell had 15 points and nine rebounds, Urban Roarks had eight points and Kaden Smith added six.
The Trojans will play for the sectional title on Saturday at 7 p.m. Eastern time against Lafayette Central Catholic. LCC defeated Riverton Parke 56-43 in Friday’s other semifinal.
