KEYSER, W.Va. — WVU Potomac State College’s Carita Mills was named the NJCAA Athletic Trainer of the Year on Wednesday.
“It is clear that Carita is dedicated to the student-athletes and community at Potomac State,” Potomac State Athletic Director Amanda Larkin said. “Her continued efforts and dedication to Catamount athletics do not go unnoticed by her peers, student-athletes, nor her community.”
The award was established in 2020, honoring the athletic trainer who best exemplifies the overall purpose of leading their institution, athletic department and student athletes through athletic training.
Mills is in her sixth year and second stint at Potomac State, returning in 2020 after serving in the role from 2013-18.
Mills is the only trainer on staff and oversees nearly 200 athletes.
“She serves to embody the mission of the NJCAA and our institution through her work.” Larkin said.
