KEYSER, W.Va. — WVU Potomac State College men’s basketball head coach Ryan Streets resigned from his position in a statement on X he posted on Monday.
“I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you for your unwavering support over the past three seasons,” Streets said in the statement. “It has been an incredible journey, and I am truly honored to have been the head coach of this program.”
Streets said he resigned to pursue new opportunities.
“This by any means was not an easy decision, as this program and community have meant so much to me and we’ve come so far from year one to year three,” Streets said. “However, I believe it is the right time to take the next step in my journey and my life.”
Streets finishes his three-year stint with a 35-50 record, but improved from a 5-23 mark in year one to 20-11 this winter.
This season, the Catamounts reached the second round of the NJCAA Region 20 Division II tournament, falling 67-59 to No. 15 nationally ranked Howard.
Potomac State upset No. 12 Montgomery 102-82 on Feb. 16.
“Your encouragement, whether in the stands, around campus or throughout the community has meant the world to our team,” Streets said. “You have helped create an atmosphere that makes Potomac State a special place to play and coach.”
Streets coached Camren Wilkes this season who earned first-team All-Region 20 honors for Division II.
Wilkes was 25th nationally with 20.4 points per game and top 25 with 633 total points, 84 triples and 125 free throws.
Streets is a Keyser native who graduated from Keyser High before playing and coaching basketball at Mount Aloysius College.
“Potomac State will always hold a special place in my heart, and I will forever be grateful for the relationships, memories and experiences I’ve had here,” Streets said. “Thank you for believing in me, for supporting our team and for making this an unforgettable chapter in my life.”
