CUMBERLAND — Residents of the George’s Creek area and Garrett County can now access AHEC West’s Possibility Shop services without having to travel to Cumberland with the recent opening of two new locations in Westernport and Oakland.
In Westernport, residents can visit The Possibility Shop on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The Shop is located at 221 Smoot St. The Oakland Shop is at 360 Liberty St. and is open from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
At both locations, visitors can get help with resource navigation, find health insurance information and resources for people with Substance Use Disorder, connect with Community Health Workers and Peer Recovery Specialists from our Healthy Together program and enroll in health insurance with the help of our navigators.
“At our Cumberland location, we’ve seen firsthand just how much The Possibility Shop does to connect the people we serve with the resources and care that they need,” said Associate Director Melissa Clark. “We have seen thousands of folks in need since the Shop was first established, and we are excited about the opportunity to make this critical access point even more accessible for people in Westernport, Oakland, and beyond.”
“The people we serve aren’t just in Cumberland, and it’s important that our peers be able to meet them where they are,” said Director of Substance Use Programming Shalynn Cline. “We’re looking forward to being able to connect with people in Oakland and Westernport more easily and effectively.”
