VALDOSTA — Police want the public’s help in finding two shooting suspects.
Richard Faulk, 27, and Clavon Jones, 18, are wanted in an Aug. 18 shooting that left two people wounded, a Valdosta Police Department statement said. Felony aggravated assault warrants have been taken out, but police have been unable to find the suspects. The statement described them both as armed and dangerous.
Police responded about 4 a.m. that morning to a residence in the 1300 block of Willow Way when several people called E911 to report they hears gunshots there, according to an earlier police statement.
When police officers arrived, they found two people who had been shot. A 15-year-old had gunshot wounds to his legs, and a 43-year-old man had multiple gunshot wounds, police said.
As officers were rendering aid to the victims, other officers heard more gunshots in the area. With the assistance of the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office, they attempted to locate the source of those gunshots.
Emergency Medical Services from South Georgia Medical Center and Valdosta firefighters arrived to treat the wounded, and EMS transported them both to South Georgia Medical Center, the VPD release said.
As detectives were investigating the shooting incident, they discovered that the homeowner, the mother of the 15-year-old victim, was using her residence as a party venue despite it being in a residential area. Detectives located evidence that she was selling alcohol and food, along with publicizing that her house could be rented to host parties, police said.
An altercation broke out at the residence, and during the altercation, firearms were produced resulting in gunshots.
Both victims have been released from the hospital.
“This shooting should have never occurred. If the homeowner would not have been hosting this illegal event, the fight would not have occurred. I am proud of the work by our detectives identifying the people involved, without the cooperation of the victims’ family,” said Police Chief Leslie Manahan.
