FROSTBURG — A Frostburg man was arrested early Sunday after he allegedly robbed an E. Main Street convenience store.
Frostburg City Police said Ronald Dewain Smith Jr., 36, entered the store about 3:15 a.m., pointed a handgun at staff and customers and stole cash and other items before fleeing on on foot.
Smith was identified during investigation, police said, and arrested at a private residence. Evidence of the crime was reportedly found at that location.
Smith was being held Sunday in the Allegany County Detention Center on charges of armed robbery, robbery, first-degree assault (three counts), second-degree assault (three counts), prohibited person/felon in possession of a firearm and other charges. He was awaiting a bond hearing.
Frostburg police was assisted by the Frostburg State University Police Department, Maryland State Police, Allegany County Sheriff’s Office and the Allegany County C3I Unit.
