PLATTSBURGH — It took one swing of the bat to give the Plattsburgh State baseball team a much-needed first SUNYAC victory of the season Saturday.
Colin Ross hit a walk-off solo homer in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the Cardinals a 7-6 win over Oneonta State at Plattsburgh High School.
Plattsburgh came out on top in two of the three conference games on the weekend against the Red Dragons.
Sunday, the teams split a doubleheader, with the Red Dragons (18-15, 6-7) winning the first game, 12-2, in seven innings due to the run rule and the Cardinals (11-13, 2-10) holding on for a 7-4 victory in the nightcap.

The Cardinals forced extra innings with two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to tie the game at 6-all.
Oneonta retired the first two Plattsburgh batters in the bottom of the 10th before Ross decided the issue with a home run to right field.
Starter Jack Castillo pitched the first six innings for the Cardinals, and only two of the six runs off him were earned.
Liam Suozzo picked up the win in relief as he went four scoreless innings, allowing three hits, no walks and striking out two.
The Cardinals totaled 14 hits in the contest. Jackson Pam and Ross led the way with three each, while Frankie Kowal and Braeden Calkins chipped in with two apiece. Pam and Calkins each drove in two runs.

This one got away early on the Cardinals when the Red Dragons scored six runs in the top of the second for a 7-0 lead.
Matt Neglia went the seven innings for the pitching win, allowing seven hits, two runs, two walks and struck out three.
Seven Plattsburgh players had a hit each, with Pam and Calkins singling in runs in the Cardinals’ two-run fifth.

Winning pitcher Kyan Zamaniyan gave the Cardinals a quality start as he went seven in two innings, surrendered seven hits, two runs, two walks and struck out three.
Plattsburgh held a 5-4 lead before scoring two insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth on RBI singles by Calkins and Kowal.
The Red Dragons threatened in the ninth, but Ryan Loughlin came in and induced a fly out and infield grounder with the tying run at the plate to get the save.
Ross and Michael Piccirillo hit home runs for the Cardinals. Kowal and Piccirillo each accounted for two hits. Ross and Tyler Martin drove in two runs apiece.
