There was just too much balance and simply too much Pinkerton Academy for Timberlane Regional to handle in the New Hampshire Division I first-round girls basketball matchup on Monday night.
The sixth-seeded Astros, now 14-5, handled No. 11 Timberlane, 73-42, to earn a spot in the state quarterfinals. Thursday night at 6:30, Pinkerton will travel to No. 3 Windham in the elite eight.
With 17 points, Sydney Gerossie led four Astros into double figures. Mia Marshall had 14, while Kaylee Dupuis and Hayden Lecesse added 10 apiece.
Timberlane, which finished at 10-9, got 20 from Sam Mooney and 14 from Rylee Donahue.

The No. 3 Jaguars moved to 17-2 and advanced to the quarters behind a 16-point night from Lilah Boucher. Rileigh Finneran added 13 points, and Meg Husson had 11.
Salem 43, Alvirne 29
No. 7 Salem earned a trip to the quarters and will face No. 2 Londonderry on Thursday. The Blue Devils improved to 13-6.
