NEWBURYPORT — Precision Pilates marked the grand opening of its newest studio at 253 Low St. on Sunday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Greater Newburyport Chamber of Commerce & Industry along with local officials and community members.
The event was highlighted by a special appearance from state Sen. Bruce Tarr, R-Gloucester, who delivered a heartfelt speech and presented a ceremonial citation signed by the Senate’s president. In his remarks, Tarr expressed gratitude to Precision Pilates for “taking a risk as a small business and bringing excellence in the field of pilates to the Newburyport community.”
“We have opened in Ipswich and Danvers, and we have never received such a warm welcome as we have in Newburyport by the Chamber and other local businesses. We feel so lucky to be here. The Newburyport Chamber of Commerce is so organized, involved and supportive of our business,” Precision Pilates owner Nancy Higgins said.
For more than 30 years, Higgins has been a leader in pilates. Her daughter Liz Rogers joined the business 12 years ago after Higgins’ Stage 3 breast cancer diagnosis. What began as helping her mother through treatment has grown into a thriving family-run business that continues to expand and innovate.
Founded by Higgins, Precision Pilates has been serving the North Shore for more than 30 years, with studios in Ipswich, Danvers and now Newburyport. Known for award-winning instruction and a commitment to intelligent, supportive Pilates, Precision Pilates is recognized as a leader in movement, strength and community wellness.
