PLATTSBURGH — Ayden McCormick’s goal at 4:36 of the third period lifted Saranac Lake/Lake Placid to a 4-all overtime tie with Plattsburgh High Wednesday night in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference hockey.
Chase Laravia’s goal at 1:46 of the third had given the Hornets a 4-3 lead.
Laravia, Lucas Dashnaw, James Bayer and Cooper Holland scored the PHS goals and Owen Chapple made 36 saves in net. Braeden Calkins assisted on two of the Hornets’ goals.
McCormick and Kellen Duffy each tallied twice for SLP and Scottie Nicholas was in net with 30 saves.
“I was very pleased with our compete level tonight against a tough team in SLP,” PHS coach Joe Tolosky said.
“We faced some adversity throughout a back and forth and exciting game and I’m proud of the grit and perseverance our young team battled with.
“We still haven’t played our best hockey yet, but this was certainly a step in the right direction entering the later stages of the season.”
