The Christmas season is officially underway in downtown Cumberland as Santa and Mrs. Claus took part in the annual tree lighting ceremony at Canal Place Plaza Friday, Nov. 24, 2023. The shopping season will be in full swing Nov. 25 with Shop Small Saturday. Many businesses will offer specials and holiday treats. The Shop Small, Win Big contest begins that day and runs through Dec. 20. Each purchase made qualifies the shopper to enter into weekly drawings for $50 VISA gift cards and a $550 VISA gift card grand prize.
