PHILIPPI, W.Va. — Paced by four double-digit scorers, Petersburg defeated Philip Barbour, 74-58, on Monday night.
The Vikings improved to 4-2 with the victory. It was their first game since Dec. 28 due to a series of weather-related postponements.
Petersburg’s Kaleb Kuhn led all scorers with 27 points. Peyton Tingler and Caden Ours added 16 points apiece, and Payton Metheny scored 15.
The Vikings made 12 3-pointers, and Kuhn sunk seven of them.
Petersburg used its defense to jump out to an 18-5 lead and extended it to 41-20 at the half. The Vikings scored 27 points in the third quarter to remain in front.
Logan Watson and Patrick Webster ended in double figures for Philip Barbour with 15 and 13 points, respectively.
Petersburg hosts Moorefield (2-4) on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Northern 70 Shanksville 37
SHANKSVILLE, Pa. — Northern bounced back from a loss to its county rival with a rout of Shanksville on Monday night.
The Huskies (5-4) have won three of four games, the lone setback a 83-57 defeat to Southern on Friday.
Northern led 17-8 after the first quarter, 41-18 at the half and 54-29 after three quarters.
Caleb Hinebaugh scored 14 points to lead Northern, Cole Folk tallied 10 and Luke Ross and Devin McKenzie garnered eight each.
Shanksville’s Layne Minseh finished with a team-high 12 points.
Northern is at Meyersdale on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
Paw Paw 76 Hancock 66
PAW PAW, W.Va. — Paw Paw trailed Hancock after the first two quarters but came back to win on Monday night fueled by a combined 61 points from Taylor Carder and Donovan Tanouye.
The Pirates (2-6) trailed 22-17 after the opening period and 36-35 at the half. They took a 56-52 lead into the fourth and held on thanks to 10 points from Carder in the decider.
Carder finished with a game-high 34 points and five 3-pointers, and Tanouye added 27 points.
Jacob Anderson (19 points), Colton Welch (18) and Tucker Welch (13) ended in double figures for Hancock.
Paw Paw is at No. 5 East Hardy (4-4) on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
Pendleton Co. 92 Pocahontas Co. 55
DUNMORE, W.Va. — Josiah Kimble tallied a game-high 25 points to lead Pendleton County to a romp of Pocahontas County on Monday night.
Pendleton (4-5) scored 31 points in the second quarter to bump a 16-12 first-quarter lead to a 47-27 margin at the half. The Wildcats led 70-41 entering the final period.
Kimble was joined in double figures by Chase Owens (19) and Dalton Rohrbaugh (14). Dillon Dunz paced Pocahontas with 20 points.
Pendleton won the JV game 73-45. Colton Robeson finished with 23 points for the Wildcats, and Cole Harper added 11. Luke Taylor topped the Pocahontas junior varsity squad with 11 points.
Pendleton is at Tucker County on Wednesday night.
