PERU — Peru rapped out 15 hits in the game and turned in a strong performance on Friday with a 13-6 victory over Saranac in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference softball.
“This was a really great win for our team tonight against a strong Saranac team,” Peru coach Amie Marshall said.
“Our defense was solid, limiting errors, and our offense was the strongest it has been all season.”
Kenzie Whitmarsh led the Nighthawks with three hits, while winning pitcher Zoey Malcolm, Natalia Gushlaw-Mirville, Lily Siskavich and Aubree Narducci all chipped in with two. Malcolm had a triple, and Sierra Geppner and Siskavich had doubles.
Layla Pellerin, Abby Owen and Emily McDermott paced the Spartans with two hits apiece. Owen and Abby Liberty hit triples, while Pellerin and Rowan Ryan added doubles.

BEEKMANTOWN — The hosts played just the one game in the Beekmantown Softball Tournament because of the weather.
Ashley Barnes paced the Eagles offensively with three singles and a double. Ava Dauphinais added three singles and Lindsey Shanley two. Winning pitcher Addi Jewell struck out six and walked five.
Hallie Gilmore and Allison LaPoint accounted for doubles for the Bobcats. Losing pitcher Grace Cook struck out seven and walked four.
“Addi Jewell threw a complete game, allowing only three hits,” Beekmantown coach Michele Barnes said. “She did a great job all game staying around the strike zone.
“Ashley Barnes led us offensively, going four-for-four. Mia Perez made a great double play at shortstop.
“Hallie Gilmore had a nice game for NAC both behind the plate and offensively rapping a double.”

BEEKMANTOWN — Renee Bruno and Julia Bailey rapped out four hits each in the Patriots’ victory in the Beekmantown Softball Tournament.
Cassidy Richards, Anna Bailey and Lula Pfendler added three hits apiece for AuSable Valley, with Richards getting a triple. Winning pitcher Ava Doyle (5) and reliever Kaelee Smith (2) combined for seven strikeouts.
The Patriots scored a combined 15 runs in the fourth and fifth innings.
Emily Gay paced the Red Storm with two hits, with Gay and Emma Akey getting a double each.
