Whitfield County Animal Shelter staff try to make sure the animals in their care have an opportunity to exercise and play. They try to make sure people looking to adopt have the opportunity to interact with the dogs before they make a decision.
Both of those priorities received a big boost from scouts with Dalton’s Girl Scout Troop 14660 who came to the shelter recently and installed a play yard for the dogs.
With obstacles and other features, the play yard provides the dogs with an environment that challenges them physically and mentally.
βIt helps us enrich the dogs’ lives and brighten up the shelter. Interacting with the dogs β playing with them and spending time with them β improves their chances of being adopted. We’re grateful to the girls for reaching out and supporting the county shelter,” said Whitfield County Animal Shelter Director Diane Franklin.
For their efforts to help brighten the lives of the animals in the care of the animal shelter, the Dalton Daily Citizen names Girl Scouts Brooke Robertson, Sophie Searl and Isabella Wakefield Persons of the Week.
