KEYSER, W.Va. — The Personal Best Patriots opened their season with a 38-6 win over Keyser on Saturday at Keyser Middle School in Division 1 Cumberland Area Youth Football League action.
The Patriots are the defending Division 1 regular season and Super Bowl champions.
Nathaniel Rivera scored three touchdowns, all from at least 60 yards out for the Patriots (1-0).
He opened the scoring with a 77-yarder in the first quarter before adding a 60-yard score in the second quarter and a 64-yard touchdown in the third quarter.
Rivera finished with six carries for 237 yards.
Karson Harden scored two touchdowns for the Patriots, a five-yard run in the second quarter and a 15-yard pass from JC Lee in the third.
Harden rushed four times for 75 yards.
Jaden Jacobs caught a 15-yard touchdown from Lee in the second quarter.
Keyser’s only score came in the fourth quarter on a three-yard run from Isaiah Swick.
Lee finished 4 of 8 passing for 45 yards and two scores.
Landry Harden added 35 rushing yards on four carries for the Patriots.
Keymoni Metz and Brayden Painter tied for a team-high nine tackles each for the Patriots while Bubby Hawley and Jaden Jacobs each recorded eight.
Harden also blocked a punt and recovered a fumble while Metz added an interception.
Swick was voted Keyser’s Offensive Most Valuable Player while Soloman Sions and Harvey earned the Defensive Most Valuable Player selections.
The Patriots face the Northern Steelers at Northern High on Sunday at 2 p.m.
