For every Pentucket hockey player who has donned the Green and White jersey, a new face is now sitting atop their program’s history.
And his name is Chase Pelletier.
By scoring a goal and assisting on another during the team’s Division 4 first-round playoff victory over Lunenburg on Thursday, Pelletier became Pentucket’s all-time leading scorer: Reaching 73 career goals and 56 assists for 129 points. He passed former program great Richie Hardy (PRHS ‘21), who held the mantle since scoring 61 goals with 66 assists (127 pts) during his memorable career. And before Hardy, that honor belonged to Billy Bomba (PRHS ‘04), who finished with 120 career points.
Those are the lone three in program history to reach the 100-point milestone.
And thankfully, Pelletier took the record before his career came to an end.
Because on Sunday evening, No. 18 Pentucket hung in as long as it could, but couldn’t keep up with No. 2 Littleton in a 5-2 loss in the Division 4 Round of 16. It was only a 3-1 game heading into the third period, and the Panthers (8-13-1) did their best to make things interesting before eventually bowing out.
Perhaps the ultimate irony: Pelletier is from Georgetown.
But in this particular case, the co-op led to the program’s new all-time leading scorer. It will be impossible for Pentucket to replace the production of Pelletier, along with four-year starting goalie Josh Yoon and fellow seniors Mac Cole, Reese King and John Racki. But the Panthers will have some talent coming back next year in Owen Case, Sam Escobar, Caleb Coppo, Cooper LeColst and Brody LeColst.
