TIFTON — The Georgia State Patrol continues to seek the public’s help in probing a fatal accident in Tift County.
The accident took place at 4:01 a.m. Feb. 7 when an unidentified white male, apparently in his mid-30s to early 40s, died after being hit by a tractor-trailer on I-75 northbound at mile marker 54, a Georgia State Patrol statement said.
The victim had a small build with dark hair and a beard. Video from the tractor-trailer’s dashcam showed the man getting out from behind a parked car on the shoulder and getting into the truck’s path; however, the car, which may hold clues to the accident, was not there when first responders arrived, the patrol said.
The identify of the victim is still unknown. Key details that an investigation has found:
— The male victim is described as having a small build, with dark hair and a beard.
— Missing right arm from elbow down.
— Was wearing a necklace with a shield and cross with a Bible verse on the back.
— Wearing dark colored University of Indiana hoodie.
— Video footage retrieved from the tractor-trailer’s dashcam captured the male emerging from behind a parked vehicle on the shoulder and stepping into the path of the tractor-trailer.
The patrol wants anyone who may have seen the accident, knows who the victim is or has seen the vehicle to come forward. These persons should call GSP Post 13 at (229) 386-3226.
