CLINTONVILLE — AuSable Valley halted the skid at two games as they would keep Saranac Lake at bay, winning 49-35 in CVAC action.
After licking their wounds after a defeat to NCCS two days prior, the Patriots found their groove to keep the Red Storm from finding momentum to keep up.
A halftime lead of 14 points would remain the difference as AuSable kept SLCS at arm’s length.
AVCS’ Elizabeth Douglass led all scorers with 15 points but she wasn’t alone as two teammates also reached double figures. Reese Shambo and Layla Lincoln added 14 and 10 points, respectively.
Madison Moody-Durant led Saranac Lake with 11 points.
With the win the Patriots improved to 5-3 overall and hit the court today when they travel to face Beekmantown. Saranac Lake falls to 3-4.

Bolton 42
Schroon Lake 26
SCHROON LAKE — The Wildcats did exactly what they needed to limit the leading scorers for the Eagles in Jadynn Egloff and Maillie Kelley.
It just so happened that the rest of the Bolton team stepped up when called upon to defeat Schroon Lake, 42-26.
“Our girls did a great job defensively tonight, especially on their two leading scorers,” Wildcat coach Jeff Cutting said. “In the second half we held them to just one basket.
“We just needed to knock down a few more open looks. Bolton had a number of other players step up.”
Cutting specifically put praise on Bolton’s Natalie Figueroa as each time School Lake cut the lead to single digits, she would respond to curb the momentum.
Figueroa and Thea Kennedy each had eight points. Egloff and Kelley had off nights with 10 and six points, respectively. It would be a night where every player contributed as each Eagle that stepped on the court entered the score column.
Olivia Hartwell led the Wildcats with nine points as Addie Phillips chipped in seven.
With the win, Bolton stays on top of the conference with a perfect 8-0 record and a 4-0 record in the MVAC. Schroon Lake falls to 3-5 overall.
