To celebrate Independence Day, Dalton’s Creative Arts Guild and the Guild’s professional Chamber Orchestra will present their fourth annual “Pops in Burr Park” concert this Friday June 28th at Burr Performing Arts Park in Downtown Dalton.
The annual concert is free and open to the public. Beginning at 6:30pm, the evening will kick off with music by jazz band Ain’t Just Whistlin’ Dixie and at 8:30pm the Chamber Orchestra will begin playing.
In addition to patriotic music by the Orchestra, there will be glow and light-up items for purchase, free patriotic-themed kids crafts and a performance by members of Ballet Dalton. Burger and hotdog meal boxes and additional concessions can be purchased, and there is plenty of room for lawn chairs or blankets. A grand finale with fireworks will close out the concert.
Children can also perform with the Pops Children’s Choir during the concert. The Children’s Choir will sing “I’m A Yankee Doodle Dandy.” A rehearsal will be held at the Creative Arts Guild on Thursday from 7 to 7:30 p.m. For more information on getting the words and music, please email music director Lisa Elders at lisae@creativeartsguild.org or call 706-259-1822.
