DERRY — Parkland Medical Center, part of HCA Healthcare, announces the appointment of Whitney Fenyak as chief executive officer.
Fenyak has been with HCA Healthcare since 2019, when she joined Portsmouth Regional Hospital as vice president of operations.
Most recently, Fenyak served as chief operating officer at HCA Healthcare’s Reston Hospital Center in Virginia, where she successfully led the expansion of operating rooms, added much-needed acute rehab beds and managed a multimillion-dollar facility renovation. She also strengthened physician relationships and spearheaded the recruitment of 20 cardiologists to establish a cardiology clinic.
“Since joining HCA Healthcare, Whitney has consistently demonstrated unparalleled leadership, along with a remarkable talent for building relationships and bridging gaps,” said William Lunn, president of HCA Healthcare’s Capital Division. “Her vision and ability to think about the big picture will be invaluable as she returns to New Hampshire to lead Parkland Medical Center.”
In addition to her role as chief operating officer at Reston Hospital Center, Fenyak served as Reston’s interim chief executive officer and previously as vice president of operations at Frisbie Memorial Hospital.
Fenyak led the initial planning for an acute rehabilitation center at Frisbie Memorial Hospital, developed a partial hospitalization program and helped create behavioral health pod in the emergency room.
“New Hampshire has always been my home and I’m excited to return to the market,” Fenyak said. “Parkland’s team is incredibly dedicated to serving its patients and community and to providing an exceptional patient experience. I am looking forward to working with the team to find new and innovative ways to provide high-quality patient care and to build even stronger relationships in the community.”
Fenyak earned her bachelor of science degree from the University of New Hampshire and her master’s degree in health services administration from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
Fenyak succeeds John Skevington, who has been appointed CEO at HCA Healthcare’s Catholic Medical Center in Manchester.

Parkland recognized for patient safety
DERRY — Parkland Medical Center last month has been recognized as a 2025 Patient Safety Excellence Award recipient by Healthgrades, the leading resource consumers use to find a hospital or doctor.
This is the seventh consecutive year that Parkland Medical Center has earned this recognition.
“Being recognized nationally as a top 10-percent hospital for patient safety for seven years in a row is a huge testament to our unwavering commitment to providing save, high-quality care,” said Whitney Fenyak, chief executive officer of Parkland Medical Center.
“We strive to treat every patient with compassion, dignity and respect. Our care is built on compassionate, connected care, and our colleagues take tremendous pride in making a positive impact on our patients and the communities we serve every day.”
Parkland Medical Center’s achievements are based solely on what matters most: patient outcomes. As part of its 2025 hospital assessment, Healthgrades evaluated risk-adjusted mortality and complication rates for over 30 of the most common conditions and procedures at approximately 4,500 hospitals nationwide to determine the top performers in specialty care.
As variation in performance among hospitals continues to grow, it is increasingly important for consumers to seek care at top-rated programs.
Healthgrades’ 2025 analysis revealed that if all hospitals as a group performed similarly to five-star hospitals during the 2021-2023 study period, on average, 224,958 lives could potentially have been saved and 141,692 complications could potentially have been avoided.
“Healthgrades commends Parkland Medical Center for its clear commitment to delivering consistently superior patient outcomes in critical service areas,” said Brad Bowman, MD, chief medical officer and head of data science at Healthgrades. “The hospital’s leadership, expertise and unwavering dedication to clinical excellence set a high mark for specialty care in New Hampshire and nationwide.”
