JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. — A pair of Allegany College standouts helped the Bluefield Ridge Runners win the Appalachian League (Appy League) championship last week.
Nick Falla and his Trojan battery mate Carson Bradley (Mountain Ridge) were part of the Ridge Runners’ first title team since 2001 and 15th overall.
Bluefield defeated the Kingsport Axmen 11-3 in Friday’s title game.
The Appy League is a summer college baseball league and is considered one of the top leagues in the country.
It was a former affiliated league in Minor League Baseball before joining the summer college ranks in 2021.
Falla posted a 2.08 ERA across 17 1/3 innings, allowing four earned runs with 19 strikeouts against 11 walks.
The San Diego State commit was a third-team NJCAA All-American this spring finishing with a 1.33 ERA.
It was the lowest in the country among pitchers with at least 80 innings of work.
Bradley only played in four games for Bluefield after spending most of the summer with the Potomac Valley Mudcats of the Fayette County Baseball League.
Across 16 at-bats for the Ridge Runners, he recorded a hit and two walks.
The Division II University of Charleston commit slashed .316/.473/.406 for Allegany this spring with 49 hits, 42 walks, 19 RBIs and 22 stolen bases.
