A local team took the top prize in the scramble tournament at the Rocky Kelly Pro-Junior Tournament on Monday, July 27, at the Green Lakes State Park Golf Course in Fayetteville.
The Ouleout Creek Golf Course team placed first out of 21 teams in the scramble with a minus-16-under 55. The team was led by Ouleout pro Evan Sitts and featured junior members Kason Miller, Landon Weaver and Dylan Brislin.
Sitts also placed tied for second in the professional contest with a minus-two-69.
PGA of America Golf Professional Tim Hume won the pro event with a 63.
The Pompey Club and McConnellsville Golf Club tied for second in the scramble with 57s, two shots behind Ouleout.
Sitts and his team went minus-six on the front nine and then played an even better back nine, going 10 under par.
They had eagles on 10 and 12, along with 12 birdies. They did not shoot anything below par.
The Ouleout team had birdies on 16, 17 and 18 to clinch the win, with Pompey and McConnellsville each netting a par on two of the final three holes instead.
Sitts had five birdies and an eagle in the pro round. He started slow, with a plus-three front nine before shooting five-under par on the back nine, a course best.
Kelly was the longtime golf pro at the Fayetteville course and the pro-am is dedicated to honoring his memory by encouraging young golfers in the same way that he did.
