The Cumberland County High School track team came up with some big finishes recently when the boys and girls participated at Cookeville. The meet includes teams from around the Upper Cumberland area.
Highlighting Cumberland County’s efforts were first place finishes from Rachel Ostrander in the 800 and 1600 meter events. Ivy Watson won the 300 meter hurdles, while Eden Kean took first in the boys 400. Sam Mensonides captured the top spot in the pole vault.

Cumberland County also competed in the middle school division and fared very well. Austin Peebles and Eloise Stephens led the way with outstanding performances. Austin Peebles on the boys 200 meter dash, while Stephens took top honor in the girls 400.
Peebles took first in the 200 meters with a time of 25.61 seconds. Chase Adams was third in 29.86, while Tylo Barrier was fifth overall. He had a time of 32.60; 400 meters — Ezra Buck, second, 1:11; 800 meters — Parker Asberry, sixth, 2:52.
Eloise Stephens had a winning time of 1:12 in the 400 meters. Harper Rhodes was third with a time of 1:20.
