Opportunities for Otsego will get a new leader this summer.
The Board of Directors at OFO announced in a media release that its CEO, Dan Maskin, will retire on June 28 and that Tanya Shalor, the agency’s chief financial officer, has been promoted to replace him, effective July 1.
“Dan’s leadership and mentorship over the years has been invaluable and I will wish him nothing but happiness and success in his future endeavors,” Shalor said in the release. “I strive to continue our mission and am excited to work with our board of directors, community partners, funders, clients and staff in Opportunities for Otsego Inc.’s next chapter continuing our focus on client support and success to alleviate poverty through the numerous programs and services offered in Otsego County.”
According to the release, Shalor joined OFO in 2013 as the CFO, after serving as the Head Start director for the agency for three years. Prior to Opportunities for Otsego, Shalor held a variety of positions in the publishing and financial sectors. She served as publisher of The Daily Star and, earlier in her career, she worked with Casella Waste Management and at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter in Manhattan.
“Tanya’s extensive experience with Opportunities for Otsego and her deep connection to Otsego County make her a perfect fit for this role. We are fortunate to benefit from her leadership and are excited to see what she will do as Chief Executive Officer,” Board of Directors President Lisa Samols said in the release. “As the head of both the finance and human resources departments, Tanya is intimately familiar with how Opportunities for Otsego works. She has a clear vision for the agency’s future in the Otsego County community.”
Shalor and her family live in Worcester.
