LONDONDERRY — The Aviation Museum of New Hampshire will hold a New Volunteer Open House Wednesday, Oct. 14, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the museum, 27 Navigator Road, Londonderry.
Prospective volunteers can meet current volunteers and learn about opportunities to support the museum’s educational programs, exhibits and special events. The museum is especially seeking volunteers to work with young people through field trips, school visits, hands-on activities and its Flights of Discovery summer camp.
Other opportunities include greeting visitors, leading tours, assisting in the gift shop, mentoring students in the museum’s plane-building program, helping with special events, operating the flight simulator, maintaining the library and caring for historic artifacts.
The Aviation Museum, located in the historic 1937 art deco passenger terminal at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport, preserves New Hampshire’s aviation history while inspiring future aerospace innovators.
To attend the open house, email Christine Bates at cbates@nhahs.org or call 603-669-4820, ext. 404. For more information, visit aviationmuseumofnh.org
ThanksgivingService at Trinity
KINGSTON — Area residents are invited to a non-denominational Thanksgiving Eve service from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, at Trinity Church, 80 Route 125.
The area-wide service will include Scripture readings, stories about the first New England colonial Thanksgiving and familiar Thanksgiving hymns. Singers from at least two area churches will participate.
Thanksgiving observances have a long history in New Hampshire. During the Colonial period, the state’s governors called for special days of thanksgiving, with some traditions based on festival days described in the Old Testament.
The service also will provide an opportunity to help local families. An offering will be collected for the Kingston town food pantry.
The offering will supplement the work of about a dozen volunteers from several area towns who spent the summer working at The Giving Garden, located down the driveway past Trinity Church and New Creation Healing Center.
For more information, call 603-571-0205. If there is no answer, leave a message.
