The Oneonta baseball team scored 15 unanswered runs to win its season opener against Seton Catholic 15-2 at home on Thursday.
After falling behind 2-0 in the top of the first, the Yellowjackets tied things up in the bottom of the first and pulled away for good with a four-run second inning.
Nolan Stark led Oneonta’s offense with two triples, a double and four runs scored. Chase Jervis had a triple and a double while Brady Carr and Britten Zeh each had doubles.
Bruce Mistler picked up the win on the mound as he, Carr, Grayson Brockington and Jameson Brown combined for 10 strikeouts while allowing just six hits.
Oneonta will host Chenango Valley on Friday.
Unatego/Franklin 4, Walton/Downsville 0
Xander Johnson’s dominant pitching performance led Unatego/Franklin to a 4-0 season-opening win over Walton/Downsville on the road Thursday.
Johnson threw a complete game, one-hit shutout in which he struck out 19 batters and walked only one batter in addition to the lone base hit.
Johnson helped his own cause by going 2-for-4 including a solo home run. Gavin Nordberg drove in a pair of runs for U/F while Chase Simonds had two hits.
Jaden Serra had the lone base hit for Walton/Downsville while Grayson Palmer recorded three strikeouts on the mound.
U/F will face Southern Cayuga in Cortland on Saturday while W/D will host Delhi on Tuesday.
South Kortright 12, Jefferson/Stamford 3
South Kortright opened its season on Thursday with a 12-3 home win over Jefferson/Stamford.
Cole Thomas, JB Trimbell and Anthony Martinez each had two hits while Jackson Hudson notched a double.
Thomas, Logan Reinshagen and Hudson combined for 15 strikeouts on the mound.
John Michael Leas registered a double at the plate for J/S.
South Kortright will visit Schenevus on Wednesday.
Gilboa/Roxbury 28, Margaretville 1
Gilboa/Roxbury had 21 runs and 12 hits in the first inning of Thursday’s 28-1 victory over Margaretville.
Garrison Ross finished with four hits, three runs scored and six RBI while also recording eight strikeouts as the winning pitcher.
Brayden Carr had three hits, including two doubles, four RBI and five runs scored while Thomas Davis was 2-for-4 with a double and four RBI.
CJ Fairbairn plated Margaretville’s lone run on an RBI triple.
G/R will visit Windham-Ashland-Jewett on Tuesday.

Braelyn Gilles, Layla Winner and Kendyll McDonald each had an RBI for W/D.
Unatego will be at Sidney on Tuesday while W/D will host Delhi the same day.

The Cooperstown tennis team opened its season on Thursday with a 4-1 victory over Sauquoit Valley.
Henry Ayers and Owen Marling each notched singles victories in straight sets for the Hawkeyes, as did the doubles pairings of Bianca Adam and Lexi Wolfe, and Hayden Spencer and Micah Raffo.
Cooperstown will host Holland Patent on Friday.

Margaretville won both matches of a doubleheader against Charlotte Valley on Thursday.
