The Oneonta Starbucks off Route 28 closed temporarily Thursday, Jan. 16, according to a sign posted to the main door.
Below the sign was a copy of a boil water notice from state Department of Health. According to the notice, routine monitoring on Monday, Jan. 13, showed inadequate disinfection for drinking water.
The store was ordered to remove a UV bypass system — which allows water to bypass an ultraviolet light water treatment system that disinfects water by killing harmful microbes — within 30 days and ensure the UVI is at 70%, or operational.
The Starbucks corporate office did not immediately respond to a request for comment Thursday.
