Ochsner Rush Health is introducing a new holiday event, Sensory Santa, for families and children with sensory, physical or cognitive needs. Families are invited to meet Santa Claus in a sensory-friendly environment and will receive a photo and goody bag. This inaugural event will take place 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Dec. 9.
The Sensory Santa event is coordinated by Ochsner Rush Health Rehabilitation Services, which offers a full range of adult and pediatric services in physical, occupational and speech therapy. Children with special needs and their siblings will have the opportunity to meet Santa and take photos in a quiet, relaxed environment. To maintain a calm space, families are encouraged to schedule an appointment by calling 601-703-4345. Ochsner Rush pediatric therapists will be on site during the event to assist with any needs.
The Sensory Santa holiday event will take place on the Third Floor of Ochsner Rush Health Ambulatory Care Center, located 1300 18th Avenue in downtown Meridian.
