UNIONTOWN, Pa — The Oakland Oaks doubled up M&R Transit in hits en route to a 6-2 victory Tuesday in the Fayette County Baseball League.
The Oaks improved to 6-3 overall and are in a three-way tie for second in the FCBL a game back of the Carmichaels Copperheads (6-1-1).
Oakland scored three runs in the top of the first inning after a two-RBI triple by Cameron Goble followed a run-scoring two-bagger of the bat of Ryan Roell.
M&R trimmed its deficit to a run after tallied in the first and third innings, but Cole Parker gave the Oaks some much needed insurance with a two-RBI double in the fifth.
Oakland tacked on one more in the sixth on a Roell single.
Alex Beiler batted 3 for 5 and scored twice, Parker was 2 for 4 with two doubles and two RBIs, Roell was 2 for 4 and drove in a pair, and Jonathon Allen also had a pair of hits.
Casey Tomasik was the winning pitcher, allowing two runs on four hits with four strikeouts and three walks in four innings of work.
Bryce Snyder picked up the save in relief, throwing three shutout innings of two-hit ball with seven strikeouts and one walk.
Nate Zimcosky led the M&R offense going 3 for 3 with two doubles, and Chad Petrush, Santino Marra and Tyler Sankovich also doubled.
Kaleb Scott only got one out before being removed for M&R, allowing three runs, and was given the loss. Marra allowed two runs on four hits with four strikeouts and four walks in four innings of relief.
Braden O’Brien allowed a run on five hits in 2 2/3 frames of relief. He fanned three and walked one.
The Oaks host the Carmichael Copperheads on Thursday at 7 p.m.
