OAKLAND — A Garrett County man is being held pending a bond hearing after driving off the road and into a yard while under the influence of alcohol, according to Garrett County Sheriff Bryson Meyers.
Nigel Gross, 40, of Oakland was arrested and charged with providing a false statement, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, obstructing and hindering arrest and driving under the influence, according to Meyers.
Deputies were dispatched at 9:48 p.m. Friday to West Center Street in Oakland where they determined that Gross was operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
According to deputies, Gross became uncooperative and threatened to assault them. He continued to be uncooperative and disobeyed the commands of deputies.
Deputies had to utilize pepper spray to control Gross to make the arrest, Meyers said.
Gross was arrested and placed in a police vehicle where he began banging his head on the rear cage of the vehicle, according to Meyers.
Deputies transported Gross to the Garrett County Detention Center, where is being held pending a bond hearing, Meyers said.
