MANKATO — There were numerous spinouts and crashes following the snow and icy conditions Saturday evening and night, but only one injury accident, east of Waseca.
Manou Talawalay, 21, of Brooklyn Center, was westbound on Highway 14 at 8:55 p.m. when she lost control of a Hyundai Kona and went into the median. She was taken to the Mankato hospital with non-life threatening injuries according to the state patrol.
Lt. Jim Othoudt of the Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office said there were several crashes in the county, with many of them on state highways.
He said there were calls for six non-injury crashes on county roads.
“The bridge decks were slick. People forget the bridge decks are colder than the roadway and freeze over.”
Mankato Police Cmdr. Craig Frericks said his agency responded to 20 crashes, with one causing minor injuries.
